ENJOY THE PROCESS!
My top recommendation is that you wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable, confident and reflects your unique style! This is about capturing a special moment in time. I hope you relax, have fun, and let your authentic personality shine!
I recommend bringing a couple of outfit/shirt options to allow for different looks at our location. (However, this is your session and if you choose one outfit, that is up to you!)
Sometimes students will begin their session in a dress or formal jacket and will switch to jeans with various tops. Wearing a cami or a t-shirt as a base layer is helpful when changing into other tops or layers.
Plan ahead and check the fit and comfort level of your outfits before our session.
SOLIDS, PATTERNS & COLORS
Solids: Solid colors work great and draw attention to your face and expressions. They work really well in the natural settings of Seattle. They can be easily mixed and matched with different layering pieces or accessories.
Patterns: Patterns can add personality to your photos. Plaid shirts are a great example. If you choose a patterned shirt, I recommend combining it with a solid bottom. (Please avoid tiny patterns such as houndstooth or small stripes as they can look distorted in photos).
Colors: Warm, earth tones work well outside. Bright colors create great contrast. Most importantly, wear colors that feel great and familiar to you! I do not recommend wearing neons as they can distract from your face. Avoid clothing with loud/large logos (unless logos are from high school or for college).
LAYERS, ACCESSORIES & PROPS
Layers: A sweater, jacket or scarf can add variety to your outfits. Denim or leather jackets are a nice addition for Fall.
Accessories: Simple jewelry or hats can add meaning to your outfit.
Props: Do you play an instrument or a sport? Feel free to bring your instrument, sports item, and jersey, if you like.
Flowers are a fun addition.
Have a furry friend? Feel free to bring your pet (if your parents or a friend can help watch them during our session).
DON'T FORGET!
Shoes: Make sure your shoes complement your outfit. Many Seattle seniors wear sneakers. Whether you choose casual or dressy shoes, please choose something comfortable for walking at our outdoor locations.
Be sure that your clothes are ironed! If you are bringing extra clothing items, please bring them on hangers. Wrinkles show in photos!
